Potter's charter fishing is ran by Capt. Eddie Potter in Boca Grande, FL. Capt. Eddie was born in Key West and lived in Marathon as a boy. Eddie's young fishing experience started on his Dad's shrimp boat catching reef fish such as grouper and snapper. Along with those, Eddie also caught tuna, bonito, shark, and cobia. All of his family in the Boca Grande area are also natives of Florida and make their livings from the sea as fishing guides and commercial fishermen. Eddie started his charter service in 1997 and has only just began his life of fishing Charlotte Harbor, Pine Island sound, and the Gulf of Mexico. The inland areas are protected by the barrier Islands of Gasparilla, Little Gasparilla, Palm Island, Cayo Costa, Captiva, and Sanibel. Boca Grande is located on Gasparilla Island where Capt. Eddie spends a lot of time at Fishing Unlimited Outfitters, a local fly shop.
In the years since the start of Eddie's charter service, Capt. Eddie has spent a lot of time fishing the flats and bays for tarpon, snook, redfish, trout, flounder, and sheepshead. Eddie also spend time in the Gulf of Mexico fishing for king mackerel and spanish mackerel, cobia, triple tail, grouper, shark, jack, and bonito. Eddie chases these fish from two different boats, a 17-foot Pathfinder with a tunnel hull that gets Eddie and his clients to the best back country spots, while his 22-foot pathfinder lets Eddie carry 4 people comfortably through rough water and still catch good fish in the shallows. Eddie uses the top equipment on the market today; Penn, Shimano, Orvis, Berkeley, and St. Croix. Light tackle fishing with spin and conventional reels and fly fishing is what Capt. Eddie specializes in and can customize your trip to be exactly what you want. If you want a great vacation with not far to go, give the Boca Grande Chamber of Commerce a call for a vacation packet. If you want a great sport-fishing charter with a great charter guide in the tarpon capital of the world, give Capt. Eddie a call. Capt. Eddie Potter is a member of the Boca Grande fishing guides association and will be happy to set up a fishing trip for you and your family whether it be inshore or offshore. Kids are always welcome and patience is given.
